Freedom Program - Variety - the Children's Charity of Wisconsin

Our Freedom Program helps children with special needs gain mobility, confidence, freedom, independence and the chance to join in the life of their community by funding mobility and other enabling equipment, and life-enriching services. These items and services empower children to be physically independent and build confidence. Specialized equipment is often too expensive for many families raising a child with special needs, especially those with many other expenses related to their child’s care. Insurance doesn’t always cover the costs and families are left struggling to find ways to meet their child’s needs. Variety is able to stand in the gap when all other resources have been exhausted.

Examples of items that we fund:
Adaptive bicycles - including tandem styles
Walking systems
Wheelchairs
Standers
Adaptive strollers
Lifts
Ramps
Communication devices

Examples of adaptive services that we fund:
Swimming lessons
Driving lessons
Dance or art lessons
Sports team fees
Specialty camps
Equine-assisted therapy

Funding requests are considered on a case-by-case basis. If you have a question about an item or service not listed above, please contact Dua at dua@varietywi.org or call 262-777-2090 ext. 108.
