How We Help

Our mission is “Providing life-enriching assistance to Wisconsin children challenged by physical disabilities”.

Variety - The Children's Charity of Wisconsin serves children age 21 and younger who have a diagnosed or demonstrated physical disability, including but not limited to, children with cerebral palsy, spina bifida, Rett syndrome, muscular dystrophy, Down syndrome, Angelman syndrome, epilepsy and amputees.

Freedom Program

Variety strives to help make the world more accessible for children with physical disabilities. The Freedom Program exists to help children gain mobility, confidence and independence by funding wheelchairs, walkers, adaptive bicycles, strollers, stair lifts, ramps, communication devices, and other enabling equipment, therapy and services when insurance won’t, and families can’t, cover the cost.

Variety Care Program

Variety provides support and equipment to serve the medical and therapeutic needs of our special children. Over the years, Variety has contributed important medical equipment, devices and support to both the Variety Orthopedic Clinic and the Epilepsy Center at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.

Variety Future Program

The Future Program takes children with physical challenges and their immediate family members on free outings to museums, professional sporting events, nature centers, movies and other fun and educational places. These outings strengthen family bonds, create lifelong memories, and allow children and their families to experience many new activities each year.

Chatter Matters! Communication Camp

Chatter Matters! Communication Camp is a residential camp for students who use speech generating devices, as well as their family and caregivers. Chatter Matters gives children a voice by teaching families how to incorporate a speech generating device into their everyday activities. Through camp activities, the child improves his or her device use to become a more competent communicator. Learning occurs through fun camp activities including arts & crafts, adaptive sports, games, music, stories, campfires and more.

Variety serves children age 21 and younger who have a diagnosed or demonstrated physical disability.
